Pat Canestaro has been weaving spinning, and dyeing for over 30 years. All forms of weaving interest her — both historical and modern.
Pat mostly weaves wearables — leaning toward interesting colors, from plainweave to twills — and is slowly moving toward dobby and complex weaving. She has tried Navajo weaving (Wow, that's hard!"), Bedouin weaving ("Cheated and used a good inkle loom to save my knees"), a bit of tapestry weaving, and a tape weaving. She is planning on constructing a warp weighted loom soon, just for fun.
Pat is excited about Rio Grande weaving because, "Many of the patterns and colors seem to reflect or come from the land — having that tie to where you live is wonderful!" She'd love to adapt some of the Rio Grande patterns to lighter weight wearables.
