Learn from Henrietta Gomez of Taos Pueblo how to bake traditional foods in the horno — an outdoor adobe oven.
You'll learn how to bake seasonal Feast Day foods — such as bread, biscochitos, empanadas, & pastelitos — and you'll also learn how to care for the horno, how to chop juniper to the correct size for firing, how to sweep out the ashes, and how to protect the horno from the seasonal elements.

About Henrietta
Henrietta Gomez is a Taos Pueblo elder who has been leading horno baking and traditional food workshops in our community for decades. She is an Artist in Residence at Futuros Ancestral, where she works to keep traditions alive and pass on her knowledge to the next generation.
