Emerging Weavers Cohort Member
El Prado, New Mexico
Lily is a beginner weaver who has always been drawn to tactile processes. As a kid, she reused materials by weaving them together to make something new. She remembers making potholders in grade school and using cardboard and wooden looms. About 7 months ago, Lily acquired a rigid heddle loom and has been learning to weave via books and YouTube.Â
Lily is interested in the intersection of ecology, history, and living tradition in weaving. She's drawn to the practice of weaving as the intersection between practicality and beauty. Through her cohort experience, she hopes to learn more about Rio Grande weaving traditions and share curiosity with a diverse group. Working collaboratively and learning with & from others is her favorite way to learn.
